Option 1: British Standard 5-lever Mortice Sashlock

• Standard: Lock for BS 3621 stamped on the faceplate – required by many UK insurers.
• Position: Used with door handles and fitted centrally in the door stile.
• You can add additional security deadlocks further down the door stile to make this configuration very secure.

Option 2: Dual locks

Lock A: British Standard 5-Lever Mortice Deadlock

• Standard: Lock for BS 3621 stamped on the faceplate – required by many UK insurers.
• Position: Usually fitted around 1 meter from the bottom of the door.
• Security: Very secure – can't be opened from outside without a key.

Lock B. Night Latch (Yale Type Lock)

• Standard: Ideally, also to BS 3621 (not all are).
• Type: Rim lock fitted on the inside of the door.
• Use: Allows keyless internal locking; often used alongside a mortice deadlock.

Varieties:

Standard Night Latch – basic security.

Auto-deadlocking night latch – higher security, prevents "credit card" opening.

Recommended Combination:

1 x BS 3621 5-lever mortice deadlock
+
1 x high-security night latch (ideally BS rated)

This provides both day-to-day convenience and nighttime or away-from-home security.

Additional Security Tips

• Hinge bolts - to prevent door removal from the hinge side.
• Door chains – for safe partial opening.
• Rack bolts - to add additional locking points when locked from the inside.
